Facebakers, a Facebook statistics monitoring site, reported that Coca-cola has overtaken Starbucks as the top brand on Facebook. The timing coincides with the time when Coca-cola launched an advertising campaign in Indonesia. The campaign started off with a Reach Block which increased the number of Likes on the Coca-Cola page from 16,646,436 to 16,795,806. The campaign was sustained with 3 more days of Premium Page ads which allows users to Like the page inline.

At the time of publishing this article, the number of Likes on the Coca-Cola page has already hit 17,031,250 while Starbucks has 16,996,337 Likes.

While we cannot attribute the sudden growth entirely to the advertising campaign in Indonesia, we think that this is a great example of how paid, owned and earned media work hand in hand.
Indonesia is Facebook’s second largest market behind the United States, overtaking the UK earlier this month.
